River Reports: Reports, Conditions & Resources
Our river reports track flows, water temperature, clarity, and recent fishing across dozens of western rivers so you can plan around real conditions instead of guesswork. Bookmark the river reports for the rivers you fish and check them the night before you head out.
Reading a report
Three numbers matter most: flow in cubic feet per second, water temperature, and clarity. Each river fishes best inside a predictable flow window, and we cross-check USGS Water Data for live flows before any trip. Pair the live data with our seasonal notes and the current hatch to decide where and when to go.
Popular rivers
See up-to-date conditions for tailwaters and freestones across Montana, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Oregon, California, and beyond, from blue-ribbon trout streams to lightly pressured local water.
What to bring
A 9-foot 5-weight rod, a floating line, 4X to 5X leaders, and a box covering mayflies, caddis, stoneflies, midges, and a few terrestrials handle most western trout situations. Add split shot and indicators for nymphing, a couple of streamers, polarized sunglasses, and waders for the season, and always confirm local regulations and licensing before you fish.
